Vår Energi is a leading independent upstream oil and gas company on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS). We are committed to deliver a better future through responsible value driven growth based on over 50 years of NCS operations, a robust and diversified asset portfolio with ongoing development projects, and a strong exploration track record.

About the position

We are looking for a competent and hands‑on Structural & Marine Engineer to join Vår Energi, responsible for safeguarding the integrity and reliability of structural and marine systems across our offshore assets.

The role will contribute to safe, efficient and compliant operations by providing technical expertise to both daily operations and project execution. You will play a key part in ensuring structural integrity, supporting inspection and maintenance activities, and enabling efficient production across the asset portfolio.

This position goes beyond operational support. It will actively contribute to reducing maintenance backlog, improving technical standards and driving continuous improvement across structural integrity and marine systems. The role combines technical expertise with ownership, collaboration across disciplines and sound operational judgement.

Who we are looking for

You are a structured and analytical engineer with strong technical competence within structural integrity and marine systems. You take ownership, manage competing priorities effectively and are comfortable working close to operations.

Just as important, you identify strongly with Vår Energi’s leadership principles and values. You are collaborative, proactive and solution‑oriented, and you bring these qualities into how you work with others and contribute across disciplines.

You communicate clearly with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and act as a trusted contributor in cross‑functional teams spanning operations, maintenance and projects.

Background and experience

  • Relevant technical master’s degree
  • Minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience within offshore structural integrity and/or marine systems
  • Strong knowledge of structural integrity and analysis
  • Experience with marine systems (mooring, ballast, stability and offloading systems)
  • Good understanding of offshore installations and operations
  • Familiarity with relevant standards (e.g. NORSOK, DNV)
  • Experience with risk assessment and technical evaluation
  • Experience supporting both operations and modification projects
  • Fluent in Norwegian and English, both written and spoken
  • Comfortable using digital tools and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. digitalisation, re‑analysis, digital twins)

Why Vår Energi?

At Vår Energi, you will work on a wide range of offshore assets, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of structural and marine systems across different life‑cycle phases.

You will be part of a strong technical environment, working closely with operations, maintenance & integrity teams and project organisations. The role offers the opportunity to influence asset performance, contribute to continuous improvement and take ownership of technical challenges in a complex and dynamic environment.
